Frequently Asked Questions

What does the GI Mapping test involve?

The test involves a simple stool sample that you collect at home and send to the lab for analysis.

Typically, results are available within 2-3 weeks.

This package includes one 60-minute virtual consultation with our dietitian after your test results have been finalized along with 90-day protocol support via messages on the patient portal. The test(s) are an additional cost which will be paid directly to Rupa Health.

What to expect

Complete the digestive health questionnaire.

To provide the most personalized care, we want to learn a little more about your health history including your digestive health, lifestyle factors, and your wellness goals. You will get access to the questionnaire as soon as you have purchased your package.

Complete your Test Sample.

After you purchase the package, you will then be redirected to my Rupa Health Lab Shop. This is where you will purchase your test (additional cost of test chosen). The test will be drop shipped to you directly along with very clear instructions on how to collect your stool sample and send it back to the lab for testing. Once you mail the test back to the lab, it will take 2-3 weeks to get the results and for one of our dietitians to formulate your custom protocol.

Consultation.

Once your lab test is completed, one of our dietitians will schedule a results review. This is a 60-minute consultation where we will review the results of the test and explain your custom protocol. Your plan may include probiotics, herbal supplements, dietary recommendations, and essential oils to correct the imbalances present on your results.

Protocol.

Your protocol specifically addresses the imbalances in your gut by eradicating the bad pathogens, replacing them with good ones, and alleviating any digestive issues or inflammation.

90-day ongoing support.

During the 90-day personalized protocol, your dietitian and you will communicate through messages via the patient portal on Practice Better. This will help us to assess your progress, address any symptoms that may arise, and make any adjustments to help reach your gut health goals.

Post 90-day protocol.

We recommend re-testing after the first protocol to see how the results have changed. Once we analyze the results of the second test, we can make recommendations for a maintenance protocol. You may choose to perform the test bi-annually, or annually, to stay on top of their gut health.

How will I know if it is working? You can expect improvements in symptoms. Some improvements occur faster than others and most people see drastic improvements during the 90-day protocol. Gut healing is slow and can take up to one year to see full improvements as our gut is like a little garden, ever changing with the environment.

Does the GI MapTM test for food allergies, sensitivities or intolerances?

Not exactly. However, once you heal your gut, food sensitivities tend to improve or go away altogether.

If you feel that you do have a lot of food sensitivities you can choose to order a P88 dietary antigen test which is a comprehensive food sensitivity and allergy test by Precision Point when ordering your GI Map. Doing both the GI Map and the P88 can be helpful in further customizing your protocol.
